The organizations that navigate AI transformation successfully will not be the ones that deployed fastest. They will be the ones that knew, honestly, what they were deploying into — and had the governance discipline to act on that knowledge rather than paper over it.
Practical Implications for Leaders
If you are a C-suite executive, your most important AI governance action this quarter is not approving a roadmap. It is creating the conditions under which people below you feel safe enough to tell you when the roadmap is wrong. That safety does not come from policy. It comes from your reaction the last time someone brought you bad news.
If you are a program or product leader, look at your last ten status reports. Count how many times amber appeared.
